A commitment to tying financial return to solving big problems.

We do not ignore externalities and we do not sacrifice returns. We are building a community of like-minded funders and eco-system players through our event series, building for-profit companies that solve big problems, and we creating funds for funders who want to solve big problems while making exceptional financial returns.

Our Work

Patternist will identify big problems to solve and define the opportunity in solving them. When an opportunity is big enough, Patternist will aggregate capital across the spectrum (philanthropic to risk capital) to fund the opportunity. Then, we will build and invest in companies that solve those problems.

Frameworks

Product definition and opportunity mapping framework to map the big problems we find to the opportunity in solving those problems.

Problem Based Company Building

We will cofound and build companies that capitalize on the opportunity in solving the world’s biggest problems. We are planning to start with two opportunity areas: climate resilience and incentivizing responsible infrastructure in AI.

Event Series

A bi-monthly series of events looking to bring together people through insightful discussions to change the normative patterns across finance and philanthropy. You can view our past and upcoming events here.

About Us

Our Founder

Victoria was a founding partner at Seed to Harvest Ventures, a pre-seed/seed stage fund that invests in women of color building software enable businesses using our product first approach. Prior to STH, she built products and teams from scratch at 4 early stage startups and has consulted on new products for companies such as Goldman Sachs (Marcus) and NBC (NBC Today Show App). Now she is working on an opportunity to unite blended capital in order to build companies that solve big societal problems, tying financial return to impact.

Our Mission

Most investors will tell you that you can’t make great financial turns and make a (positive) impact but I think there has never been a greater opportunity to solve big societal problems WHILE also making great financial returns. AI investors say that AI will “eat the world” but the amount of water and natural resource consumption needed to process the data AI needs to function won’t actually allow that. Climate change is here and billions will need to be spent in order to change infrastructure, housing, etc. to make sure that places are livable. If you can solve these massive problems, there is a huge opportunity for financial return AND to make people’s lives better. However, in order to gain those returns, you need to align financial returns to solving these huge problems. Patternist is seizing this opportunity by solving the problem of aligned incentives across philanthropists, private capital providers, and entrepreneurs looking to solve big problems.
